I remember getting through the Neverland Arc and into the "Frozen" arc and going ... "okay, so... the writers... need... oh hell... this is not going to end well." Lo and Behold.

There were some good BASIC ideas to work with there. And then Frozen, and time traveling, and... and... using the curse too many times and... I dunno. It just got way too confusing. They couldn't make up their minds on where to go or what to do. Loved Evil!Regina a bit TOO much. There's something to be said about "keep it simple."

And sadly, Belle was treated one of the worst. They kept tipping the story between her and Rumple so there was NEVER resolution for far too long. Sigh. You have to you know, END things sometimes. (Take that as you will.)

Comment OP here and yeah, the way they treated Belle wasn't some kind of standalone moment of suck. They had no plan past maybe mid-season 2 and kept pulling more plot twists and mcguffins out of the writers' collective asses and piling them on top of each other as the seasons went by. The Disney fairytale soap opera of doom.

I gave up watching a bit past the middle of season 3 and just kept up via fandom and spoilers. And remember at least a couple of actors saying the writers changed their minds about everything every other episode.

Oh, I never heard the writers had no plan. Well, it showed they had no plan. Other than "give Regina as much screen time as possible."

Ick. I am a plotter. So, this type of stuff bugs me. I mean, if a pantser can do it well, my hats off. I find very few pantsers can do a long running series well.
