My niece is living in my house. She doesn't pay rent, pay bills or really buy groceries (she buys random luxury items sometimes like vegan cheese and wine but bases her meals off the kitchen staples I provide). My savings disappeared supporting both of us while I was unemployed and looking for work but I didn't want to ask her to chip in because she left my sister's house because niece's step-dad was emotionally abusive. Anyway, finally I asked her if she could cover one of the bills and she got really emotional about it. We talked it out, I told her that I love her and want her to be comfortable here, and I thought we had an understanding. She said she couldn't pay this month but next month, sure. Okay...so now she tells me she's going on a trip with her friend, buying a seasonal wardrobe (from a thriftshop but still), and she's getting her nails done as a birthday treat to herself. I feel totally lost and lied to and frankly really furious.
