Dragon Age is a perfect example of this. Yes, thank you! DA is my favorite game series, and while I liked certain parts of DA2 like the friend/rival system, I was incredibly disappointed that Hawke was locked in to a single race/background option, and nothing they did ever seemed to make much of a difference in how the game played out. I made a handful of different Wardens and Inquisitors and replayed Origins and Inquisition a dozen or more times and was always finding something new... I never could quite manage that with Hawke.

I will admit I had an extremely unorthodox first experience with this series but I still do love it to bits! DA2 is what really turned me around tbh, and while all three games are spectacular, I believe this series holds on so strong because all three games do such a brilliant job making each game it's own experience, and even more than that, allows so much immersion by allowing you to transfer saves like they do! <33
