Hello, OP here! Thank you, secret maker!

After sharing this I thought a bit and I think I phrased it badly for brevity's sake? It's not "relating to asexuality-ness" because they're not (out, at least?) ace, it's actually "relating to certain things that they do/say/think, that are very typical ace things to do/say/think". I want to joke like "hello ace prince/ss!" or whatever but I know some people would take it like I ACTUALLY believe or assume that they are ace, but I AM aware they might be just joking, faking it, acting or just... saying it while not being ace, anyway.

Hey OP! You may be interested in this :)

https://www.reddit.com/r/aaaaaaacccccccce/

Meme page. It often does what you talk about - take things that sound very ace-y even if the person might not be ace.

Second this. It's the only ace sub i can stand. Some of the others really bring me down sometimes.

(Anonymous) 2020-12-31 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Buyer beware there’s definitely some p intense homophobia in that sub sometimes, though I haven’t looked at it in awhile so maybe it’s died down.

AYRT

Ah shit. That sucks. I don't visit it that often. What I normally see is pretty chill about all types of romantic attraction.

(Anonymous) 2020-12-31 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
The meme sub? It's the only one that i haven't seen homophobic and transphobic comments.

The regular Ace sub is a shithole though

OP here! Hey, thanks! I really don't know any spaces (well, other than AVEN but... not that.) so I've been hanging out on r/asexuality but it's kind of... ehh? Too casual maybe? This sounds more like it! Thanks a lot!!

(Anonymous) 2020-12-31 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Would you be comfortable sharing some ace jokes here?

(Anonymous) 2020-12-31 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Second this

OP

(Anonymous) 2020-12-31 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
You can just check the Reddit sub mentioned above, it has some nice examples. Sometimes I see memes like that and I want to mention a moment where they said something similar, for instance. And then there are the silly inside jokes like cake or garlic bread. Anyway, just small things I'd like to be able to joke about if it wasn't taboo.

(Anonymous) 2020-12-31 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
...How would it not be assuming their sexuality, tho?

(Anonymous) 2020-12-31 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
OP here. I don't see how it should be. Anyway, it might be because of the way *I* perceive sexuality as an ace person. Maybe I just... don't take it seriously enough since I don't *feel* it personally? In turn, joking about it without assuming anything doesn't feel so wrong to me. I do think it's completely different to joke about something (it's literally fanfic...?) from believing it.

(Anonymous) 2020-12-31 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Are there celebs who actually are out as ace? It's kind of been my impression (disclaimer, I'll admit to not always being at the forefront of media/awareness) that ace is like the neglected stepchild of the LBGTQ+ movement and it doesn't get much attention or celebration? This perception could be outdated, it just seems at least in semi-mainstream to mainstream media to still be pretty non-existent?

(Anonymous) 2020-12-31 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Idk, maybe everyone else can at least agree they’re attracted to someone/something, so ace (at face value in a general or oversimplified sense) is kinda still the outgroup. It’s not as charismatic for media representation.

(Anonymous) 2020-12-31 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! Tim Gunn, Janeane Garofalo and artist Edward Gorey, off the top of my head.

(Anonymous) 2020-12-31 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
OMG I love all 3 of them and I had no idea they were all Ace! Thanks for sharing!

(Anonymous) 2020-12-31 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
I believe Paula Poundstone, too. I listened to one of her audiobooks where she mentions it briefly.

(Anonymous) 2020-12-31 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
OP here. The thing I'm into is niche so I might make obvious who I'm talking about in the secret if I go into details, but I can say there is at least one out ace person I know of. That's... not very usual though. I guess the thing about ace representation as I see is that you risk offending LGBTQ+ people (who disagree that straight-passing / heteroromantic aces are discriminated in any way) for the sake of representing... something that doesn't matter that much to you smh.

(Anonymous) 2020-12-31 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not neglected, it's just not something that people need to come out as.

(Anonymous) 2020-12-31 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, this is wrong-some people actually do need or want to do it. It's not different from any other orientation in that way.
