Are there celebs who actually are out as ace? It's kind of been my impression (disclaimer, I'll admit to not always being at the forefront of media/awareness) that ace is like the neglected stepchild of the LBGTQ+ movement and it doesn't get much attention or celebration? This perception could be outdated, it just seems at least in semi-mainstream to mainstream media to still be pretty non-existent?

Idk, maybe everyone else can at least agree they’re attracted to someone/something, so ace (at face value in a general or oversimplified sense) is kinda still the outgroup. It’s not as charismatic for media representation.

Yes! Tim Gunn, Janeane Garofalo and artist Edward Gorey, off the top of my head.

OMG I love all 3 of them and I had no idea they were all Ace! Thanks for sharing!

I believe Paula Poundstone, too. I listened to one of her audiobooks where she mentions it briefly.

OP here. The thing I'm into is niche so I might make obvious who I'm talking about in the secret if I go into details, but I can say there is at least one out ace person I know of. That's... not very usual though. I guess the thing about ace representation as I see is that you risk offending LGBTQ+ people (who disagree that straight-passing / heteroromantic aces are discriminated in any way) for the sake of representing... something that doesn't matter that much to you smh.

It's not neglected, it's just not something that people need to come out as.

Um, this is wrong-some people actually do need or want to do it. It's not different from any other orientation in that way.
