People use the fiction as a comfy barrier between sexualising the character actors play and the actor, but it kind of flimsy regardless. But I think it's asking too much of people to be able to pinpoint taboo feelings and their outer edges. We're all going to relate differently to sexual feelings and yeah, it'd help if the kind of breaches where the subject of attraction is placed in the position of having to acknowledge what is utterly out of their control didn't happen.

Hard and fast rules aren't ever going to be practical.
