DA - All I want from The Mandalorian is reluctant (slowly becoming less reluctant) bounty hunter!dad, and I preferred S2 to S1. Honestly, as someone who barely even knew what was being hyped at any given time, I found it a strong and engaging season. I feel like maybe this is a case where people who know more about the extended universe are actually being distracted by their sense of, "Oh hey, it's so-and-so. " By contrast, I, knowing almost nothing about the extended universe, found it easy to just take every story beat at face value. And at face value, it all worked--for me, anyway.

That's surprising you found the storyline engaging even without knowing the new characters and their backstories.

Objectively I thought S2 was weaker because it kind of needs you to know the background of the introduced characters to understand certain contexts and why they matter in the plot. Or at least it makes it more compelling if you do.
