Jolene always bugged me because the woman singing blamed the other woman entirely even though the man was clearly all in. I've always preferred the response song (Diane by Cam) ever since I heard it.

She's not really blaming her though? She's asking her to have mercy on her, and not take her husband when she clearly can. Some men really are that weak, and the fact that the singer thinks Jolene might be sympathetc to her doesn't really speak badly of the singer.

I've known women who, through no fault or action of their own, have men falling over their feet for them. For the women I've known anyway, it's pretty horrible because most of the time they're not interested in these guys, and it can destroy friendships when inevitably their friends partners make a move on them.

In short, men are pathetic and that's my main takeaway from Jolene.
