(Anonymous) 2021-01-23 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)Anyway, I sort of agree. I don't actively hate him as a character. But it really, really bugs me how much everyone loves him. And John Krasinski really annoys me as an actor, with his stupid long face trying to be a fucking action star and being married to Emily Blunt and his stupid Internet show and stupid horror movies he makes. So that bleeds through somewhat.

I think he's a bad action star, apart from being impossible to take seriously because he's fucking Jim Krasinski. The Internet show, yes, he sold it for a lot of money, but that's all it accomplished, it was the most anodyne and useless show in all other respects.
I will admit that the Emily Blunt thing is just jealousy, though.

(Anonymous) 2021-01-23 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)Anyway, at some point I stopped regularly watching The Office after it became less equitably critical and sympathetic in turns to everyone (Jim got more sympathy than most, but when Michael reads off his pranks back-to-back and Jim's face falls realizing how bad they sound and how much of his own time he wastes was great and something rarely done to sitcom protagonists), and more... trying to make the cast seem like one big wacky family? Based on how well the writers, cast, and crew seemed to get along behind the scenes, it almost felt like they began writing for that atmosphere instead of The Office.

(Anonymous) 2021-01-23 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)That, and the people who think 'Dwight, you ignorant slut' is an original line and love it as an office quote when it's just sticking Dwight's name into an old SNL catchphrase.
