I'm curious about your inability to watch things, because I've started to realize that's also why I can't get into some canons/properties and that might be it.

for me it's because I'm usually in front of my laptop while the tv is on, so I feel like I'm already doing 2+ things at once even if I'm not actually doing anything on the computer. I have to stop doing literally anything else in order to watch something. at least video games are something I can do by also checking the computer between load screens so it doesn't feel as attention-grabbing.
