I want her to stay but only if the writing improves. I think she's wasted on the show as it's being done now. But she is absolutely great in the role, it's not her fault 1 bit and she totally deserves to be better served by the production.

She deserves at least one season without Chibnall and with some decent scripts.

I guess Ruth Clayton's Doctor is too much to hope for? I loved her.

Jodie really isn't the problem for me. I remember during her first episode I was overcome with a feeling of "yes, this is still The Doctor, it doesn't matter they're presenting as a woman now" - I wasn't surprised tbh because it worked for The Master too. Missy is actually one of my favourite Master incarnations!

The alt/unexplained Doctor was good too. In fact, I liked her more than Jodie while still liking Jodie.

Honestly my main issue is that Chibnall is a shitty show runner. I know we've all backed and forthed over the years re: RTD and Moffat but at least they had certain strengths, whereas I don't see any strength for Chibnall. The Timeless Child thing pissed me off way more than anything RTD and Moffat ever did.

I thought I read somewhere that she was going to give it up after the next season? Either way, I didn't mind her but I've felt indifferent about most of the episodes (there were a few I enjoyed, but I don't see myself wanting to rewatch any of them like most of the new and old DW series).

If they did recast her, I would like to see Richard Ayoade as the Doctor. I doubt that he would do it but I could definitely see him in the part.

Same TBH. I fell in love with her Doctor from the get-go. I just think she’s adorable and I’ve loved many of her episodes (though there are a few that I absolutely hated, but every Doctor has episodes that I can’t stand). The next season is rumored to be her last one and I’m a little sad about that, but I’m hoping she goes out with a bang. I didn’t like a lot of episodes that Moffat wrote, but I loved Twelve’s final season, so maybe Chibnall will surprise us.

She'll have made three seasons and iirc all the other new Doctors have had three at most so she's going to be equal in that regard. But yeah. I hope for another woman Doctor, a POC Doctor... heck... I'd love to see an Agender Doctor because in the right hands that could be VERY interesting with how Gender is for them. Not something I'd trust to Chris Chibnal...
I wonder if there's fanfic for this.

Also, Thirteen is my favourite Doctor now. Was Nine before.

I want her to stay, and I want Chibnell to stay too. I'm sick of the hate showing up everywhere. I'm sick of not being able to have one space where it is safe to like both of them without being drowned out by negativity and shouted down by the loud voices that are not the majority of the fandom in spite what they want to think.

Yeah, well, considering how her most recent series lost two million viewers compared to her first (which is the biggest drop for a revival Doctor afaik), plus the reports of her leaving after this series is up...

I ADORE Bradley Walsh and I couldn't even stick it out for him (I'm female btw). Too much second hand cringe, bad acting from the majority of the cast (excluding Walsh), and... yeah, no.

I've really enjoyed this Who, but then again, I am new to the franchise and I freely admitted, I got into this fandom out of spite. I had been considering exploring the fandom, but had been intimidated by the sheer mass of canon. Then they cast a woman as The Doctor, the whiny-ass fanboys threw hissies, and I'm like, "Yep, I'm definitely onboard now!" It's probably rather disturbing how often I'm motivated out of spite, yet here we are.

For the record, it's because of all the tantrums that I put out the call to all franchises everywhere to cram as much diversity as they possibly can into their works. More women in lead roles, more characters of color. Make your characters neurodiverse and LGBT.

Because the way I figure is either the whiny pissbabies will be like, "Hey, I really like and relate to this character despite them having a different gender/orientation/melanin count than I do," and grow the fuck up.

Or they'll scream themselves into apoplexy. Either way, the world and the fandom would be a better place.

It's fine. It turns out that about 30 years from now, Earth rebels against kale and shoots it all into space, where it settles the doorsteps of multiple other star systems, like so much stealth zucchini. In fact, the real reason Vulcans made first contact with Earth was to politely acknowledge this gift and assure the Earthlings that they were good on kale now, thanks.

Isn't the reason why people expect from him because he is the son of the big three? I just read one book when I was a teen and the movies, so not sure if I remembering wrong.

But I agree about the sentiment, it's even more annoying when said protagonist actually gives reasons why other characters should NOT do that.
