For real, though. He was always an asshole antagonist. Why are people expecting more?

While he's always been a cold antagonist, throughout the series, you see small changes in him (not a complete 180, maybe just 3.5°) so it's only natural to hope maybe by the time this happens we see at least a slightly larger increase? In all honesty, this was probably as good as we were going to get, or at least him tolerating his children and letting them follow him for a bit (my thought) but consider how he was raised too (if you saw the movies) and he was groomed to be a warrior. There was no cuddling, no mom holding your hand. His parents were more or less removed from the situation. I honestly think that's part of why he can't stand Inuyasha-- how soft his mother made Taisho, and the kid himself (well, relative to the time). But anyone expecting a cuddling doting father was reading another story or has read too much OOC fanfic lmao
