151. Wait a minute... what? D: Pardon the defensiveness here, but as a member of the fandom I feel a bit....yeah.

Okay, uh. I don't know where you've been lately but the most dominant pairing in the fandom is Layton/Legal!Luke, so claiming that half of the fans are in it for the shota is right off.
Secondly, yes, there is a dynamic of it who are in it for the shota; but why the hell does that mean they can't, in other regards, appreciate it as a platonic pairing?
As a shipper of Layton/Legal, Luke/Flora and Layton/Claire (amongst five million other less serious ones; NAZOTP MOTHERFUCKERS)....I dunno. I can't understand the concept of ONLY shipping two characters in a romantic sense. It's much more fun to appreciate them as lovers, friends, mentor and student, a whole plethora of different ways.
Also, I don't really like shota much at all :3 and know a wide proportion of people in the fandom who don't...? In fact, I was more of the idea that shota fans were in the minority D: (which is why there've been a few guilty secrets of 'i ship it', probably.)

...Seriously, does the whole internet see Layton-fandom as a pedo fandom? ~~Kink~~ Fandom Meme aside, and not accounting for the Japanese fanartists, most of the active members seem more interested in genfic.

I'm just annoyed because as an active member of the fandom I really don't understand this D:; sure, us non-shota fans let the shota fans get on with it, but...Honestly, I see more genfic and crack than anything else. And shipping LxL (or LxLe) doesn't necessitate you can't appreciate the adorable relationship they have in all of the games :/

All right, I'd like to apologize.

I'll admit that, to be honest, I've never really been huge into the fandom for this game--I've never been into most fandoms, actually. So I've only caught glimpses of it, and it just seems that with any fandom, the pairing part of it is what always shows, even if it's not the focus. So I'm entirely willing to accept that I've gotten the wrong impression of the group.

Sorry, I definitely should have used my brain before generalizing.

That's okay. ♥ My feeling was mainly one of bewilderment, but I did feel a little hurt because...hey, when you take part in a fandom you get tarred with the same brush, yanno?

You sound like a sweetheart so please don't take offence from my reply, it was written immediately after viewing the secret - which as we all know isn't a good idea XD

The fandom in general for Layton is very gen and sweet actually, and the pairing stuff is very easy to avoid. So if you ever do want to join, hey, we'll welcome you :'D
