When I was a teen in a learning slump, early seasons Rory Gilmore was a beacon of hope for me. Bright, difficult-ish upbringing, super smart, but still loved and respected by most around her.

Young adult / college student me wondered how she could become a needy stupid crybaby (The Yacht thing, crying after logan, doing that stupid "what am i gonna do after college" stunt).

Adult me rewatching the series and the "sequel" makes me realise that Rory was just as much an entitled, snobbish b*tch she desperately trued not to be.
I also think she got knocked up on purpose because she didnt know any better what to do for her future, which is a trope I absolutely detest. "We need an end for that character arc we butchered - yeah, surprise baby it is."
Season 1/2/3 Rory would be ashamed of her future self.

I blame the writing not the character. Which is to say, I reject the revival and refuse to hold revival!Rory's deep character flaws against early-seasons!Rory.

Later-seasons!Rory is certainly more flawed, but I found it reasonable to give her a rough burn-in period when she hit early adulthood, given how common that is irl - especially among people who were golden children throughout childhood and adolescence. I'm just baffled that for the revival they decided to max out all of Rory's worst later-seasons traits, and jettison all her best traits.

oh yeah the blame it definitely on the writers side.

the revival was just such a fucking mess.
