I've got ONE ship where having the third wheel walk in makes sense, because it involves three characters who all live in each other's pockets off and on, and sometimes without a lot of space for privacy... but that's a trope that doesn't really carry over for me to any other sets of characters-- if anything, having the third character being overinvested in the relationship makes it worse!
