Yeah, chiming in with the rest of people here. I've lived with two friends I knew online for years before ever meeting them in person, was engaged to one of them. (Probably still would be in that relationship if health problems hadn't destroyed us.)

Aside from those two VERY notable exceptions to this idea, I mean, I go to cons and do cosplay so I am always meeting people who I met online because "hey this con is near where I live, we should meet up". And there have been a few who were just socially awkward in general but still very nice, and the majority it's been the same when we're in person as when we're online except that my disabilities get in the way of communicating as effectively (which is why I mostly have online-only friends who I occasionally see in person).

There are some people I know online that boy howdy, they're fun online but I would not want to actually spend much time around them in person because of the drama and/or chaos that they seem to intentionally seek out pretty regularly. We can be buds at a safe distance where I am not at all involved with that stuff.
