Re: Secrets you don't want to make and don't want anybody to make into secrets

The author of a comic I read is very salty about the Bury Your Gays trope in that way where they think every gay or "gay coded" or " could be headcanoned as gay" character dying is prime snark material. Their comic also has a pretty entirely canon queer cast. But it's also dark and several important characters have died in it. None of the dead characters are confirmed queer, but like the rest of the cast, they're "coded" as such that, knowing the author, they were written as queer.

I want to troll the author and ask them if their hatred of Bury Your Gays means all those dead characters are straight after all, or if they accidentally buried some gays if their own. But obviously I can't, because... fandom. And it would make me a tool. I just think the author is kind of a tool also.

Preeeetty big difference between "the only gay-coded characters die" vs "a few queer-coded people die in a cast where there are plenty of other characters", bucko, not that you seem to care.

I probably should have mentioned that the author has snarked at shows where there are queer characters who don't die and straight characters who die, just for one queer character dying. They even once snarked at a show where there are canon queer characters none of whom have died, because it killed two characters who were a popular m/m ship but not actually together or canon queer in the show.
