It... it's safe to eat raw? Source? I've been so anxiously self conscious of bacon cleanup every time I cook it, and make absolutely sure it's well cooked.

In the USA, do NOT eat raw bacon!! Some other countries cure their bacon so it is safe to eat raw (the same way salami or prosciutto is technically raw but safe)
