I've never seen this movie, but I do like how those two guys look.

Then you should def watch the movie. They're an open, gay (maybe better phrase is queer or mlm since it's never defined) 1,000 year old couple who met as enemies and fell in love. It's a background element since the movie is more about the weight of immortality, but it's really cool to see in film.

Same. They're cute and all, but I couldn't really get into it like the fandom seems to.

Hard same. It's everything that I love but I heard people rhapsodize about the speech in the back of the van, but I found it pretty meh.

I think the latching onto them ended up over-inflating their importance which, when I did watch The Old Guard, really disappointed me by how little we really got about them. They felt kind of low-key/background for a couple that got kidnapped and tortured to me.

DEFINITELY. I am a fan of the ship, but they are minor characters. I mean, it's pretty typical to overstate the importance of slash ships, but still. (At least they're actually canon, which many over-hyped couples can't claim...)

They're an ok couple, but I have to admit that I really don't get the hype. Well I do get the "we have a canon gay couple in a (sort of) mainstream movie" part, that made a lot of people happy. But personally I did not find Nick, Joe or their realtionship that interesting.

I love them. The fandom, I can take or leave.

Aw man, I love them.

In regard to the fandom, btw, I think the thing I can't stand is the Nicky woobiefying. Man was a Crusader. He's about a billion years away from a wooby and arguably is a bad man who works hard to be a good man. He's not a crying damsel. But it feels like fandom doesn't know what to do with a skinny white boy except trope, trope, trope. It's kind of a bummer because the character is super intriguing. And, like, why isn't Joe getting the same treatment? He's by far the woobier of the two. He's a poetic (literally) romantic who seems 2,000% more soft-hearted?

In fact, you konw what? I've convinced myself. Down with woobie Nicky. Give me woobie Joe!

But if people write woobie Joe, how can they possibly also write all their favorite racist tropes while disingenuously whining about being called racist because of their ~preferences~?? Would woobie Joe, for example, keep innocent virgin priest Nicky as a sex slave? Or how can they get away with using "historically accurate" (borderline?) slurs? Priorities!
