128. This secret made Otaku Jesus cry.
129. That show first aired almost thirteen years ago! God, I feel old. And I still miss Rupert. I want a Watcher spin off NOW!
133. I've watched both those shows and I can see why True Blood stayed and Moonlight was canceled. For one thing Moonlight kept on changing the plot every other episode.
Mick likes human Beth but claims to be utterly obsessed with Coraline, the vampire wife he "murdered". Then Coraline shows up as a human with the vampire cure and an amazing potential plot line involving the French Revolution and Royal vampires. Coraline is kidnapped by her brother and leaves Mick temporarily human. What does Mick do? Does he go after her, his obsession, his one true love? Does he go after the vampire cure that he has been searching for decades? You know, the two main plot points of the story.
Nope.
He does a 180, forgets Coraline (That's loyalty for you), goes back to being a vampire, suddenly likes being a vampire (what?) and claims his love for Beth. It was so out of character from what we were shown in the previous ten episodes that I just about called it quits by episode twelve. But I continued to watch.
Moonlight had more episodes on air than True Blood has had so far, that is 16 to 13. Yet, I feel I know True Blood's characters, all of them, which mind you out number Moonlight. Moonlight on the other hand, I have no idea who Josef is outside of being some LA Yuppie, whose girlfriend is comma (I know, I know, it's serious) and has ties to Europe some how. Beth? I have no idea who she is. Where were her folks when she nearly died? Mick? What was he doing all that time after he murdered his wife? Did he pay for murdering his wife?
Nothing was explained. It was all cliche romance and lousy dialog. That's why it failed.
That and it didn't have an awesome character like Lafayette.
154. Happy secret is happy. Welcome, soon to be fellow citizen.

Re: 103
Like Walter from Fringe's version of mad.
And enough with the wacky outfits already. He's insane not a fashion disaster.
Re: 103
As for the outfits, I tend to love the big bow the original one had and love rich colors so I can be guilty of drawing him like that*, but if the one Johnny is dressed as is that...foofy in the final version, I'll be a bit disappointed.

Re: 103
See, I've always wanted a working class Hatter because that's what a Hatter was. Since the story takes place during Victorian times, I want black pin stripe trousers, a dark gray waistcoat, white shirt with rolled up sleeves. The type of style you see tailors wear. And for a hat, I would love a derby because no one would think about putting a derby on him.
Basically, I want him to look like a Victorian hat maker. Only insane.

So like, DRAW IT.
I will always picture him weird, (and with a Top hat) as it IS wonderland after all. But it's an idea worth pursuing. DOOOO EEEET.
Re: 103
Re: 103
But they WERE insane :) They used to cure hats in mercury, so hatters tended to get mercury poisoning - and the "madness" was just that symptom. Though, the Mad Hatter doesn't exactly exhibit the symptoms of mercury poisoning.
Personally, I'm just disappointed that it doesn't look like Burton's film is really going to reflect the "feel" of the book. I don't think any films have.
Re: 103
My problem with the movies is that they almost always gloss over the poems and the fact that the book is a Victorian book, therefore the movie should be very Victorian as well. I mean, how many movies versions have you seen where they even have English accents?
Re: 103
I can honestly say that I've never seen an Alice in Wonderland movie that I actually liked and felt reflected the books adequately. And you're very right about them glossing over the poems! I love those poems =(
Honestly, I wasn't entirely sure how I felt about Tim Burton making this movie in the first place - I thought it could be interesting, but now I'm not sure I'll like it.

Re: 103
Not to mention, no one has any idea how Depp will play the character anyway, so it's all a bit premature.
Re: 103
Oh, and I love your icon.
And between you and me, I HATED the Disney movie of Alice in Wonderland. Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass were my favorite books growing up. I knew those books forward and backward. And that cut and paste movie job was lousy. It was too shiny, too hyper colored, too Disney. The story has alot of Victorian touches that the movie completely ignored. Not to mention they left out a ton of poems that I so loved.
I doubt Burton can do any worse.
