Your rat infestation sounds like an absolute nightmare. My sympathies!

I tried to use snap traps to deal with a rat problem in my mom's house, to absolutely no avail. The rats were too smart to go near them. Hopefully your rats are stupider and more foolhardy.

If not, though, then there's apparently a big difference between first-generation rodent poisons like warfarin (which is what I ended up using in my mom's house), compared to more lethal second-generation rodent poisons. The former require a larger dose to affect predators, while the latter can kill a predator who only eats a single poisoned rat. It's still a tough decision, though. Best of luck to you!
