I had a huge crush on Shigure back in my baby weeb days. I reread the manga a few years ago and found I still had a bit of a crush on him. WTF, self?

I hate him more as an adult yet also find him very captivating.

I haven't gotten round to watching the new anime, but after rereading the series last year I realized that the original anime had made Shigure a lot 'nicer' by comparison.

Welcome to the old days. Yeah, he's not to my taste by far, but he was basically the favourite back when FB first came out.

I *adored* him in the first* anime and the manga. The more you got to know him, the more alien he got, the more detached? But he was still fighting a very long war to free his cousins' souls, and he won and it was amazing.

Best character in the series, for me.

I did notice that the new anime seemed to cut out all his jokes about liking high school girls.

I always thought that was the point of the character, once you got far enough in the manga to see his whole story. Like, that's a sexy bastard. He made me feel sorry for Akito, which was quite a feat.
