The E key on my computer randomly decided to die this morning. Just a single key, but it won't work. And since there is an E in my computer password, I can't even log onto my computer anymore.

It is still under extended warranty. Except that all the local Apple stores are closed indefinitely. And I can't wait since I use the computer for work. The best I could do was an appointment at Best Buy for Monday. So I'm probably going to have to actually pay for the repairs.

Just a whole bunch of frustration that I wasn't expecting. Posting from my mother's old laptop she only uses when she travels, so I can borrow it for a few days. But I already miss my own computer.

Oh damn, that's so frustrating. I'm sorry, nonny. I hope the repairs aren't too bad.

My keyboard just stopped working last week right in the middle of a work assignment. I'm on a desktop, so I just had to buy a new keyboard and picked the cheapest one that I could pickup from my local Best Buy since they only allow curbside, but I don't like it. It's not as loud and clickety-clackety as my old one.

OK, this might be a stretch, but is it possible to cut and paste the e into the password?

Would a cheap usb keyboard work?

If Best Buy is asking too much to fix it, that's what I'll go for probably. I want to at least go to the appointment and see what they say first.

I know the frustration, the E key on my MacBook Air (that I got in 2015) keeps sticking or not even working. It did this before and my husband lifted it with some tweezers plus poked around with a cotton bud/q-tip underneath with some cleaning chemical (he had to wear gloves) and it worked again for a while, but this time...nope I'm still having to hammer pretty hard to register the letter E.

I know it's the most commonly used letter in English but damn, does this bring it home.

I have a casserole in the oven and it is absolutely gigantic and I'm being anxious about (1) how long it's gonna take finishing cooking and (2) the oven rack being strong enough to hold it the whole time

Since you mentioned Apple, I assume you have a Mac?
Either way, (I still have a Windows laptop that my cat knocked a whole glass of water on and broke 95% of the keys) I believe you can access the on-screen keyboard via the 'accessibility' icon on the log-in screen/start menu.

Also depending on what type of keyboard you have you can try cleaning it. Most keys are held in place with a small metal wire or a snap. You can try gently easing off the 'e' key and seeing if there's anything blocking the key from working. Just make sure you pay attention to how you remove it so you can replace it exactly as it was before.

I waited almost two weeks for my new headphones, to replace headphones that only lasted one month, and the new ones hurt my ears D:. Adjusting the headband doesn't help. Also for some reason the right earpiece is louder than the left. Even if I plug them into a different device.
I'd gotten a pair of earphones to serve as an emergency backup in case my new headphones fail but they may very well be my main ones and these headphones the backup.

I've felt that.
My advice is to keep it on a consistent and low(ish) heat, and a drip pan to catch anything from boiling over, my oven always needs upmost to an hour or so more cooking time so just be patient. About the oven breaking... uh, I wish you the best of luck! I mean, I doubt your rack will break, at most it'll wilt a bit if the heat is high enough, but I'm sure it'll be fine! <3

Same vent as always for the last several years: I just wish I could swallow anything without being miserable for hours afterward.

Alternately, I wish I could be transplanted into a robotic body, or at the very least get all fluids and nutrients required to keep this stupid thing alive through an IV and just get my entire GI tract removed.

I don't want to use poison because it almost always kills more than its intended targets, but I need to get rid of the rats setting up shop in my stove, fridge, walls... ffs, I need sleep and also no more rat shit or chance of electrical shorts.

But my cat, my roommate's cat, freeroaming neighborhood cats, barn and great horned owls, red tailed hawks, and I'm sure some predators and scavengers I'm missing might eat poisoned rodents and die.

I need to find the enclosed heavy duty snap traps, the open ones can maim a cat, or me, and I need all my fingers.

I'm sick of maskless assholes and the lack of consequences (aside from covid exposure that isn't limited to them, bastards) for people that refuse to wear masks.

And finally, in the BS petty category, why are so many plants I want so difficult/impossible to buy in the US, dammit, nevermind get them to California? (Yeah, yeah, I know, preventing the import of new agricultural pests is more important than my desire for flower and plant species and cultivars that aren't available in the US. Sigh.)

Your rat infestation sounds like an absolute nightmare. My sympathies!

I tried to use snap traps to deal with a rat problem in my mom's house, to absolutely no avail. The rats were too smart to go near them. Hopefully your rats are stupider and more foolhardy.

If not, though, then there's apparently a big difference between first-generation rodent poisons like warfarin (which is what I ended up using in my mom's house), compared to more lethal second-generation rodent poisons. The former require a larger dose to affect predators, while the latter can kill a predator who only eats a single poisoned rat. It's still a tough decision, though. Best of luck to you!

My sympathies. Cats are long gone from my neighbourhood, I suspect that rats ate them, so I have no qualms in laying down poison, but I loathe feeding them and maybe getting them used to feed at my place and pass the word around before they finally keel over, so I'm betting on glue traps. Cruel but that's what worked best with mice a couple of years ago and I have zero sympathies for vermin that's here because vandals ruined the neighbourhood.
(Ohgods it's been three months since the fire and still no news of getting rid of squatters and securing the place.)

I don't know why I keep making any comments in imgur. I don't get what goes in their heads, and they downvote for the stupidest fucking shit (and sometimes upvote too... I guess whatever they deem is lovingly fondling the balls of their echo chamber), and will argue with you over the stupidest fucking shit. It's like SHUT THE FUCK UP, DO YOU NOT GET THIS WAS A PASSING COMMENT AND NOT A DEBATE. Oh well, I guess I can only blame myself. I'll need to retrain myself to stop spending any amount of time on there that isn't just uploading secrets. It's just frustrating when you just want to have a laugh at a meme and stupid assholes have to ruin that.
