OP - additional comments

I want to add that since submitting this, I've realized format probably has a lot to do with it. Back when I played mafia with a core group of people, playing in any other way besides the specific way we played it felt like playing four-square at a different elementary school.

I love the premise though and I've been reading fic and watching all kinds of videos, so add it to my long list of "things I got into but not in the right way" apparently.

OP you might like Town of Salem if that's how Among Us made you feel. ToS is basically you and your best deductive reasoning VS how stupid/smart are the other people on your team? It's 8x better than Among Us.

>Back when I played mafia with a core group of people

Yeah I was gonna ask, are you playing with randos or with friends? Cause mafia-type games are way better with people you know.

Haven't played either, scared of multiplayer, but I assume it's just because you're used to different gameplay and people put expectations, and from what I watched Among Us is supposed to pretty chaotic.

Also not into the gameplay but love the fan content or watching people play it!

It's only fun if you play it with a friend group. The online random matchups aren't fun, since people will disconnect when they're losing and you can't do voicechat, which is the big fun of it.

Oh, it's hilarious trying to argue with others over VC. Especially when one of you saw the other do the deed, and is trying to point the finger at the other person.

Oh, I highly disagree. It can be very fun playing with strangers, and VC is never required. It can take a few times to get a good room going, but once you find a group of people willing to stick around several rounds it's fantastic.

It comes down to your friends. If your friends are fun, then it's fun. If not, well...

Usually the joy of it is YELLING AND ACCUSING. LOTS OF Y E L L I N G. In my experience anyway :P
