You know I get that. But there is a WEALTH of vampire fiction that can get that bad taste out of your mouth. Anyone else suffering from "Sexy romantic vampire" fatigue, I got your recovery plan.

Start by playing Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

The Dracula Tapes by Fred Saberhagen

The Hellsing anime.

The Kate Kane series by Alexis Hall. It's a pretty decent send up of Twilight.

The Bloodrayne games.

Blood sucking Fiend by Chris Moore

Take any two of these and call me in the morning

I saw 'Hellsing anime' and kneejerk went 'why would you pick Hellsing for your vampire anime when Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust exists', before realising that VHD:B does, in fact, kind of have the 'sexy romantic vampire' thing. So, apologies, fair.

It's just such a ridiculously pretty movie, though.

No, thats fair, that belongs on the list too. I just didn't think about it. I'm not against vampires in love. I'll happily recommend it, it's the "Tortured soul. So romantic how he broods" kinda thing I try to keep away from.

Like, The Dracula Tapes is a "Dracula in love" story at heart, but the way he writes vlad is just more... fun loving is probably the wrong word, but more lively?

VAMPED BY DAVID SOSNOWSKI

I don't know how it's aged, but I read it back in high school and I found it entertaining.
