This. I hated the ending when I read the manga, but was lowkey hoping the anime might change it because the ending's unpopular with a lot of people, but then they didn't and I got angry all over again.

What happened? I didn't finish, because these kinds of stories tend not to end well :c

The ending wouldn't have been so bad if Ash hadn't died. He and his friends basically manage to bring down the bad guys and he parts on okay-ish terms with all the other gangs. He stops talking to Eiji, but Eiji gives Sing a letter to give to Ash and it has a plane ticket for Japan. Then Ash gets stabbed by Sing's half-brother, who thought Ash and Sing were still going to duel to the death (they had decided not to, but the half-brother didn't know or something). Ash kills the guy, walks to the public library, and bleeds out as he reads Eiji's letter. He knew Eiji was waiting for him in Japan and he could've gotten help for the stab wound, but he just dies instead.

After all the BULLSHIT this guy has gone through. I can't. Thank you. I'll be avoiding this for my feelings.

It was such a shit ending. Ash deserved to be happy after all the awful things that happened to him. If he had to die, he should've at least gone out in a blaze of glory while taking down Golzine and his cronies. I don't understand the logic of having him die slowly over such a stupid reason (why didn't the half-brother talk to Sing?!) when he knows someone's waiting for him. And in the manga extras, when find out that Eiji never gets over losing him. Definitely protect your heart, nonny, and don't get into it.
