I had to cut back on my listening of Hamilton because it was messing up all my related music recommendations.

I can relate, listening to Hamilton while shovelling throughout Winter 2020 helped me get through a particularly brutal time. It's become a soundtrack I go to when I need music to motivate me whenever I feel I'm in a slump or have to do a difficult task.

To be fair, he was only 7 years older than Julie Andrews. So it's an age gap but a small enough one that it's not ridiculously egregious.

I love this pairing. But I never took it for that particular vibe, mostly because she spent most of the movie being the one actually teaching him all the lessons and very much holding her own. She may have been a virgin when it came to relationships and younger than him, but she felt very much his equal. Virgin woman/experienced man to me is a very specific vibe, and these two don't give that off at all to me personally.

I like this too, and tbf it was Christopher Plummer (RIP) so, he was such a handsome man. Honestly. This pairing gave me feelings.

However, i think philstar makes a a point, and I agree with it for the most part -- maybe not 100%, as there's just always going to be certain elements, but Maria was always herself and I think that made all the difference -- she wasn't trying to mould herself according to his desires.

I think I agree that there wasn't much of the dynamic of experienced/virgin that accompanies age gaps, but when there was (a surprising amount of) sexual tension then I do think this was the dynamic. like the dance at the party where they're teaching the kids - you can kinda see maria realize she's a little in over her head.

I do enjoy the experience differential here. Her inexperience and his relative worldliness are both sexy to me. But I agree with the others saying that I don’t quite get that very particular vibe you’re talking about from them. They have a surprisingly equal, tit-for-tat dynamic, imo.

I mean, she gives him such a good talking to that he gets confused and calls her Captain. She uses that fucking whistle on him after knowing him for only five minutes—and it works. She’s definitely stronger than him emotionally, IMO.

I think he’s very much her loving service top in the bedroom, most of the time.

It's not that this show made me particularly horny.
The sex scenes were tame imo.
But watching it coincided a sudden spike in my sex life.
I'm also reading romance again (starting with Eloise's
book) and it's been amazing for my mental health.

I'm also hopeful they'll make more shows out of my
favorite books.

Objectively speaking, the Eighth Doctor Adventures are consistently better quality than the Virgin New Adventures. But goddamn it the VNAs were such a huge part of my descent into DW during the late 90s that I don't care. It's just a shame that they barely come up in conversation except talking about the OG version of Human Nature.

Also, 16 years later it STILL tickles me that the BBC chose the guy who had the Doctor do cocaine as showrunner XD
