Check other fandoms, or simply stop looking for accurate polyship representation. I assume that ninety% of the people who write it have zero experience with it, hence why it's called fanfiction. (or really rather /should/ be called otherwise according to some)

Of course, anything short of a tri-auto-bi-ography is going to be read or viewed majorly through that of one perspective. If you're missing out, idk, maybe you should look at some old RP's.

As to the "character have two hands" deal, then the trouble still remains as to whom grabs whose hand first.

Unfortunately, fandom is one of the few places where there's much in the way of poly output. Original fic is lacking even more in this regard, and it's super frustrating.
