Pre-Covid, I used to ride the train to different cities on the weekend. I'd buy a roundtrip ticket (they're cheap on the weekend) and go from one station to another, then switch trains and go to a different station. One train would pass right by the ocean and it would always remind me of this scene from Spirited Away. Ah, I really miss riding the train.

I absolutely love the piece of music whenever it gets to the train ride part of Spirited away.

I haven't seen Spirited Away, but ever since I was a kid, whenever I'm out and I see a travel-bus (Greyhound or whatever), I feel this deep yearning to be on it, moving towards some far-away thing while I sit idly, closed up in its little microcosm world.

Ok, I never got into Ghibli...

I have an issue with sad endings, and Ghibli always seems very... wistful.

How is my read on this? Is there any Ghibli you'd recommend for me?

Whisper of the Heart is one of my favorite Ghibli films, and I'd say it has a pretty happy ending. Same with Kiki's Delivery Service and Porco Rosso. Ponyo and My Neighbor Totoro have happy endings too, if I remember correctly.
