Nah but I AM the kind of person who doesn't create or read a lot of fucked up content because I'm very traumatized and sad/bad things even mild can trigger me. This has nothing to do with child abuse though, only harmful imagery. Of course we should prioritize real issues...? (don't like fanfic involving children either but I literally work with child abuse and have to look into them anyway so lol.)

Even if this is how it works for you, it's patently clear from this thread alone that writing and reading dark themed fics are part of our own healing processes. Calling someone creepy for that is bang out of order. If you find it triggering then avoid it and leave everyone else who does read/write it in peace.

I'm sorry for your trauma, but I also carry trauma too and found catharsis in creating fucked up stories as well as a strange comfort in reading them.
People cope differently and it is not everyone else's responsibility - especially on something so vast as the internet - to censor things when certain people refuse to take responsibility of their own safety first (such as knowing what triggers you and going directly to a source you know will trigger you and then getting mad at everyone else for your choices. It is not the same as someone intentionally triggering you by doing something like sending you an image while knowing full well it could cause an upsetting reaction).

This is why on spaces like AO3 where a tagging system helps to navigate through stories as well as to avoid potential triggers. That way people like me and the OP can have space to create, and people like you can focus on what you actually like instead of actively seeking things you know are going to upset you.

As long as the dark fic is labeled, you can avoid it pretty easily, and if the mere existence of someone else's clearly labeled kinks are enough to send you into a mental tailspin, fandom is probably not a good place for you to be hanging out.
