I get this. I don’t think it got to me that deeply, but from what I remember the mice were definitely more unsettling than the usual Looney Tunes villains because they didn’t become goofs at any point. And it taps into, I think, a very real fear for kids (and adults!) of not being believed that shit’s going down. It didn’t even go the “well, the characters died, but here’s their angel/devil selves bickering” sort of release.
