The 500 Kingdoms version was a BIT better. But not really. "These poacher girls offer their bodies to me so I don't hurt them, so it's not really rape..." not really.

And yup last talk about it was in 2018, when a new book by her daughter was announced, and it appears Warner Bros bought the film rights in 2014, from Copperheart Entertainment, who optioned them in 2011.
But honestly, at this point, I doubt we'll see a film adaptation.
