Pretty minor compared to the others, but I think it's just that "the ship they were on" seems unnecessary. It did feel awkward to me, but not terrible. It could/should probably just be "the ship" or "their ship".

yeah it's not the most exquisite of sentences ever crafted but yknow sometimes you just need a line to get the point across. oh well. at least OP has some really terrible examples to fill out the rest of the secret.
