I can sympathize to an extent. While I've never considered myself 'the prettiest girl in fandom' I've always had some dark satisfaction in knowing I'm considered hot. And yes, it's not really the best way to be but a lot of people do think this way even if they themselves are unwilling to admit to it.

We all have dark fandom secrets. I have enough to fill up this community on my own and yet I rarely post secrets because I'm lazy. Most of my secrets would probably be really offensive to some people not because I really have those opinions all the time, but I have had them. They exist and do come up from time to time. People have accused me of thinking I was better at something than anyone else in fandom, and yes I've thought that before but it's not something I truly abide by. Everyone has their own areas of fault, their own secrets, their own dark feelings. If I said a lot of what I felt when I get annoyed I'd be torn apart by others when in actuality I'm a very nice person to the point that when people do meet me in person at conventions they're shocked at how normal and sweet I am to others.

It's a secret because we don't tell people these things. We don't make them known, we don't even acknowledge them ourselves most of the time but it's still there and we know it's there and yes, the purpose of this place is to make those secrets known regardless of how it might be taken because there's no name attached to the secret.

I don't actually consider myself the prettiest girl, that's more hyperbole for effect than anything.

It's just a shame that when someone does come forth a few people respond with such vitriol.
