OP: Many thanks, secret maker! I have a lot of feelings about this show, and appreciate you making secrets for folks! :D

This season was visually really nice to look at (the image used in the screencap made this my first thought, lol) but yeah I kinda agree. I wouldn't say that was 100% the issue with the season, but it was definitely pretty eye-roll worthy in my opinion. And baffling. Surely these nude gals need some sort of support for their boobs while they do all those acrobatic moves? Hello????
Also the ending was just kinda underwhelming and disappointing... :( I definitely didn't enjoy the tonal shift, I guess is the main problem. I don't think it needed to become darker and edgier at all!

I think I was pretty invested in the darker and edgier beginning. I did like the eerie feeling that "Blue Samurai Jack" gave to the show. I totally agree that the ending bombed hard however. :(

OP again, just throwing more fuel to this fire because I still have a bunch of unresolved thoughts about season 5.

I'm of the opinion that Ashi and Jack should've had a non-romantic, mentor-mentee relationship. BUT if a romantic relationship was desired, I'd prefer it if Ashi was older than 18 years old, or if she was a very experienced/not completely sheltered from the outside world 18 year-old assassin. The combination of both being just barely 18 years old, AND completely sheltered away from the outside world as someone who doesn't know any better than to do whatever her parent says to do makes me feel like Jack is a cradle robber. Just felt odd to me that the show would go for the romance route rather than firmly settle that Ashi is not Born Sexy Yesterday.
