Not only do defense attorneys protect the innocent, but they also work to protect everyone's rights. Like yeah it's frustrating when someone gets off on a procedural error, but we have those procedures for a reason. Proper due process helps everyone.

I really hate how cop shows demonize defense attorneys.

This. Cops actively push at the rules and will absolutely break those procedures as much as they can if they can get away with it. And unfortunately, it is difficult for people to later sue because the cops will just bring up qualified immunity as a defense. Defense attorneys demanding they be held accountable and the evidence they obtained being excluded is the only reason the rights of anyone are protected.
