I don't think it's very cool to say trans girls projecting onto feminine male characters by headcanoning them as also trans girls is reinforcing toxic masculinity. It's toxic in another sense if they get so protective of their headcanon that they attack other fans, but that's a different thing.

... this has nothing to do with trans girls? it's about people headcanoning male characters as being trans guys, and yeah, it's pretty suspect when it's only ever the feminine male characters who get headcanoned as being trans.

Yeah, to each their own when it comes to headcanons. Though personally I find it funny (as in pathetic) that if I project my own sexuality on a character that makes me problematic (as I've seen people argue before) but transfolk projecting being trans are OK.
