I’m sorry that it hurts your feelings to be told that you’ve reinvented “why can’t boys just be pretty without being gay” and “you’re enforcing toxic masculinity by saying that guys can’t just be friends without being gay” and “slash is homophobic because it plays into gay stereotypes” for another category of queer in the new millennium. But maybe the answer is to try not to be that way instead of pretending that it’s different when it’s about something that makes you uncomfortable.

Nayrt: well slash does have a homophobia problem because *everything* has a homophobia problem. The answer isn't to stop doing slash (I mean, I write and read it) it's to stop treating slash as beyond all criticism.

NAYRT - Literally no idea what your point is but please let men be feminine without being gay and/or trans TOO. I'll keep pursuing that shit.

Dude I love trans headcanons

My question is why is it always Buttercupt from PPG who's a trans boy and not, you know, Bubbles.

This. In my fandom the character who always gets the trans headcanons is the long-haired, kind of flamboyant, feminine-looking guy. It's never the ex-soldier or the sporty guy or the bookish nerd, it's only the one who looks, well, kind of like a girl, and that's kind of sexist?

The only hurt feelings I see here are yours, probably because you feel attacked for your fetishistic gender stereotyping but that's okay.
But yeah, some slash shippers can in fact display homophobic ideas, that's not exactly new. And I'm not planning to repeat myself but it appears I have to since your reading comprehension just sucks so much: It's not about people having trans headcanons. It's about people who play into cissexist and transphobic stereotypes while catering to their fetish and try to make it into a wokeness statement. Just like the slashers who back in the day thought them shipping gay couples was some sort of activism. Which it wasn't.

Hmm, you seem to be assuming an awful lot of secret motives on behalf of kids writing fanfiction with trans people in it. But sure, it's because writing trans versions of characters that you see as cis is the real transphobia. *wink*

(Anonymous) 2021-03-09 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
No one here is thinking that they HAVE to be cis, it's about how it's always the same types. "This male character likes girly things, so must be a woman. This female character likes masculine things, so must be a guy!" That is cissexist gender essentialist bullshit.

Also don't get me started, as a trans person, on the absolute deluge of misery porn.
