Re: Which state would you pick to start a new life?

North Carolina is going through a bit of a boom and while the housing market is hot I think pricing is still reasonable. Heard it has nice weather too. Politics and race/class relations are in a limbo, though I heard it still is a red state (if that is stuff you take into consideration).

Florida has nice weather and I believe property tax is low. Not too sure about housing market, though. Again, politics of local area would be something I would take into consideration.

California has always had some appeal, though I'd want to live just outside of LA or live in the Bay area. But housing market in Cali sounds like a nightmare.

I've heard Nashville, TN is growing in commerce and its economy growing, making it comparable to Austin, TX.

Atlanta and the surrounding metro area in Georgia is booming too.

I'd pick places where the weather is nicer, housing and commerce being promising since it would mean chances are I would have an easier time finding a job (and more likely to get one that pays decent), I'd think about commute too. General commute easy?
