How dare you! Ignis was the only bright light in what was kind of a depressing experience for me. I mean, I loved FFXV but it did take a toll emotionally.

Just kidding, you do you. I even sort of get you because I feel the same about Prompto, except that I merely dislike him. Which makes me believe that it might be related to a shipping issue.

And you have to agree that Ignis' (and Ardyn's, granted)DLC was the only one worth paying for.

Ignis might very well be the single most physically attractive character in the whole Final Fantasy franchise.

That's all I got. Never played the game and know very little about him as a character or the fandom as a whole but every time he pops up on my screen, I scroll back up to get a better look.

(Disclaimer: this comment might make me sound like a pedophile depending on what you believe.) I've seen Sephiroth and I still consider Cloud and Zack (and perhaps even old guy Vincent if you consider that spinoff...) (Oh, and Reno bby ;_;) to be hotter, not to mention - Squall? Irvine? Laguna? Tidus? Baralai? Cecil? Edward Geraldine? Vaan? Vayne? Balthier? Al-Cid? Locke? Ramza? Ingus, Edgar, Firion?! Even Kuja and his ridiculous hair were hot. They never did "ugly", or not hot. I played enough FF in my life and I didn't even play FFXV yet because I'm an old lady with little time and money now but my bff loves it and I've seen enough to agree with anon.

Like, have you seen Ignis?

I love Ignis but I will never forgive FFXV for adding a DLC alternate end that basically went, "he developed a SUPER SECRET SO COOL PLAN TO OUTSMART DESTINY but we're not telling you what it is, teehee." It's infuriating on a number of levels, including propelling him into Gary Stu territory.

It's a Final Fantasy game. Defying gods and saving the world is done a lot. If anything the dlc propelled it to what it was supposed to be.

My copy just arrived. I am horrified by the length. FFXV has such weak writing, adding another 300+ pages of prose to it feels like a punishment. I'd say I'll report back once I'm done, but I totally won't.

Fans are well within their rights to interpret his actions and motivations whichever way they choose. XV was a shitshow when it came to plot, everyone imprints what they personally feel onto it.

I feel the same about the fandom’s woobification of Prompto. Poor boy can’t even tie his own shoes without tears in his ~violet eyes~ and Noctis cheering him on lol.

That said, ffxv was crap with an incoherent plot, off screen character development (unless you want to pay extra in some cases), the worst heroine in the franchise, and meaningless deaths, so I try not get mad at the fandom for finding whatever joy they can from the pile of shit they were sold.

Joking aside i get it, the fandom switches every now and again between shitposting, detailed conversations about characters, dark headcanons, what if's, [character] deserved better, and wholesome feelgood content.

It feels like we've been stuck at wholesome for over a year and it's starting to grate. The fandom has had so many events and anniversaries that a lot of people are starting to get fatigued by it all.

Fingers crossed that we move back to the more interesting discourse about him being super comfortable with torture and shit.

I miss that Ignis.

I think the pandemic has legit made the fandom regress back to the 'only good vibes' stage.

Give me the fucked up vibes back please. I miss the fucked up vibes. I miss the Tumblr discussions about the cut Brotherhood plot. I miss fics and art of him going completely off the rails during those 10 years.

I get that some people really want wholesome vibes at the minute but my god this fandom was at it's best when it was varied.

The Ebony thing is a bit like Thor and his poptarts, people have fixated on it and its like it's a crime to have him consume anything else. It's getting to the point where my eyes just sort of skim over anything Ebony related.

Okay, it's been some times since I played the game but what exactly are these flaws you speak of? Maybe you find him boring, but he was a little too flawless and nothing offensive about him at all. He was the one who held the group together. He is super loyal to Noctis and good friends with Gladius and Prompto.

He seemed like the one dude in the group who didn't have some huge hang up that caused drama. So why are you so upset? It's not as if fandom interpretation is that far off in that regard. Maybe the overexposure is annoying but he's a pretty "not flawed" character if there ever was one.
