Why does the show have two Lights if it doesn't have two Ls? I understand alternating casting, but wouldn't they do that for both leads?

I read some where that Light's part is in the show for the longest from beginning to end so they alternate actors for every showing of the show; whereas L is technically in the show a lot less by comparison.
