I'm sympathetic to the whole racism thing, but honestly what did Meghan expect out of the royal family? Completely naive to think things would be better than what she got. I mean this is all very entertaining to watch but you do kind of reap what you sow.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think Meghan "sowed" anything but it's pretty clear that the royals were dicks to Diana and are not expected to be very helpful when it comes to things like mental health.

But I agree with the secretmaker that it's all good popcorn drama because nobody seems to be actually hurt at this point and they're all wealthy and will be fine no matter what.

Prince Andrew can suck one, though.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Eh fair. I don't have much sympathy to give to a person who willingly put herself into a flaming dumpster mess and came out wondering why she got burned but eh.

Do agree though, Prince Andrew fucking sucks and there honestly should be more outraged people at this utter scumfuck.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
She wanted to kill herself but that's actually not being hurt because she's wealthy?

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
IKR? Some real sociopaths in this thread, SMH.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 10:00 am (UTC)(link)
II think the lack of sympathy stems from the fact not that she experienced depression, which so many of us have in our lives. Rather that she had the fucking money to seek out the very best help money can get - which virtually none of the rest of us can. If you're depressed seek help from a doctor, not the fucking HR department or your staff or the whole goddamn world.

There are people starving to death at this very moment, but i'm supposed to feel sorry for this bloodsucker airhead who wanted the world to fix her problems instead of finding a therapist?

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
So with my meager means, I shouldn't look for a therapist either, because there are "people starving to death"? That's a dumb strawman right there.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
So where it says she should have gone to a therapist, you read... what precisely? Or are you just a moron?

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
It all read to me like just another millennial going "omg my life sucks so much, I literally want to kill myself."
Plus she had the money band resources to actually seek help. I'm having a really hard time feeling sorry for her, and I'm usually not that indifferent to other people suffering.

Must be racism.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 12:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for admitting it, friend.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Agree with this so hard.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
SA agree with the lack of sympathy thing that is.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
I think she didn't take it seriously, just as all Americans don't. Then she married into an institution that takes itself extremely seriously.

Up to that point I feel sorry for her, if think she was stupidly naive. And the British press is savage to women royals who aren't the Queen. Again, sympathetic there. It's the endless, endless whining since then that has made me lose all respect for her and Harry.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
They loved the Queen Mother, and Princess Anne is still pretty popular, I think? As for women marrying into the royal family, Diana and Fergie both got roasted - both white - but Sophie is pretty much accepted. She's a long way down the line and doesn't sell newspapers, though, which is all the Press cares about.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
SA Kate's popular with the Press too, I think?

(Anonymous) 2021-03-14 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I think out of all the female members of the family, Anne is the one who escaped relatively unscathed. Even the Queen Mother, while generally liked by the public, experienced some dislike from her sister-in-law (who was born a Greek princess, great-granddaughter of a King of Denmark on one side, and a Tsar of Russia on the other) for being a "common Scotch girl"

Sophie got a little bit of flak very early on, but I feel like she and Edward pretty wisely keep their heads down and stick to raising their children and carrying out their engagements. They're well-liked by the continental royals and asked for their children's royal titles to not be publicly used. They would've been a fantastic pair of role models for Harry and Meghan.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm... honestly, I for one don't think she was that naive. I think she mistakenly thought she could change it, or be an exception and she badly underestimated just how archaic and stodgy the institution could be, which isn't the same thing.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
Which would be pretty fucking naive.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
you do kind of reap what you sow.

And what, in your opinion, did Meghan 'sow'?

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
DAI think it's more a case of you get what you sign up for. If she wanted her children to be princes and princesses maybe marry where that would be a possibility.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
SA Princes and princess from birth, I mean. The kids will get those titles when the Queen dies, unless Harry and Meghan have brought down the monarchy by then.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 11:13 am (UTC)(link)
Wilful ignorance of what she was marrying in to, throwing all her toys out the pram when it didn't work out as the fairytale she'd naively imagined it to be.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 12:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Add a dash of expecting the British public to just nod and say 'of course, it's all on us!' when she and Harry start preaching that people need to take more steps to help the environment...not long after returning from yet another holiday in the sun via private jet (see https://www.vanityfair.com/style/2019/08/harry-meghan-private-jet-hypocritical)? Yeah, that went down like a lead balloon.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-13 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah I forgot about that. God they are just such schmucks.
