Hmm, I've always browsed Pixiv because that was pretty much the only way (other than 4chan, where people... reposted from Pixiv!) to find fanart of obscure AOTS back then, before Tumblr or Deviantart's "revamp" and later every single artist's migration to Twitter/Instagram tags. Anyway... It's lovely, full of great quality art. I don't have much to say other than this. The same goes for Nicovideo and similar communities. As for comments... people aren't... very woke, to say the least. The same applies to communities in my native language though, I assume English speaking fandom is the only (or one of the few) exception(s).
