Given the recent things that have come out about behavior of some K pop stars in high school, that doesn't actually sound untrue to life, unfortunately.

IIRC there's a bit of a trend towards turning a blind eye to youth doing things like that in Asia. Different country entirely but I know in Japan people were turning a blind eye to young people beating up homeless people.

I just recently saw a couple scenes like that and i had the same thought.
I also immediately was done watching. That's not something I can stomach.

I mean to be honest, maybe it's because I went to a super small HS, but even stuff I see on NA made shows that take place in HS I'm constantly thinking, "HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN? WHO IS NOT SEEING THIS?"

Jesus I couldn't walk in the hall during class hours without a 'where are you going?'

Don't quote me on this but iirc teachers will usually ignore it because a report of bullying means the teacher would get a red mark on their resume *and the school as well. So the bullying on their part is usually ignored. And if you are a student and you talk, you get berated by the teachers and end up getting bullied more. Bullying is really bad there.
Edited (Schools also get bad rep if they catch wind of bullying going on, so they usually keep quiet about it) 2021-03-19 01:40 (UTC)

regarding some idol or actor's history of bullying, their former teacher was like, "yeah that's just how they were, he wasn't the worse and we couldn't do anything about it" so take that how you will

I remember reading somewhere once that the teachers in Korean schools could be pretty nasty and hitting students wasn't unknown, which is why so many of the older Korean movies based in schools feature that sort of thing. If it's true, turning a blind eye to bullying wouldn't be all that surprising.

idk man when i went to school some girls tried to set my hair on fire and no one ever said anything teachers are pretty inconsistent with what they give a shit about
