I'm not OP, but the main reason I'd strongly prefer chapters in the scenario OP describes is that I have AO3 display the entire work automatically for me, so I never have to click "next chapter".

I actually like the chapter view over the 'entire work' view. I guess having more 'pages' makes it feel like the fic is longer, and on really good fic, I want it to *last*.....
