angst for the sake of angst maybe. Not my cuppa cocoa that's for sure. I mean, if I read a fic with unresolved angst like that, I'd probably never read anything from that author ever again.

Or it's a fad. One author saw someone did it and got away with it, so they decided to do it too! I've seen that happen.

Angst for angst sake is probably it, actually - and I guess these fad of writers has realized it's easier to write angst if you're nonspecific about what, exactly, everyone's angsting about... in any case, I cannot WAIT for this to blow over or some new writers to waft in :/
