I’m so narcissistic about long-running TV shows. If I stop watching something, and it’s still going several years later, the way I think about the show takes on this weird element of bafflement that it has continued, as though my brain believes the show’s relevance to me personally was what was driving it before, and on some subconscious level I just assumed when it stopped being relevant to me personally it would peter out.

“It is still relevant to many, many people,” I tell my Id.

“Sounds fake but OK,” says my Id.

Almost everyone watches TV shows for too long. So, statistically, you're likely to be right in your bemusement.
