Re: Who else is enjoying the Evergreen/Ever Given Suez Canal story?

it's funny if you don't live anywhere in europe that relies on articles that ship through the canal from asia

so while the notion of a tiny digger trying to pull out a 400m ship that decided to try a three-point turn in a 280m wide channel is moderately amusing (okay, that's not what happened, but i'm not buying that a 30mph wind is going to blow a 200000 tonne ship off course - that's like me trying to blow a house over - more likely somebody fell asleep at the controls), watching the delays turn into expenses that will inevitably be passed on to consumers is somewhat less so (especially when our government already managed to logjam our biggest port during the pandemic through rank stupidity and/or carelessness (bulk ordering a massive amount of shitty ppe))

I think it's less that it blew it off course and more than in addition to the wind they lost visibility from sand/dirt.
