i never liked angel in buffy. idk if i found his spinoff interesting, don't remember anymore.
when i rewatched buffy and i definitely noticed that it seemed like they were referencing a bunch of shit from his show during his cameo, but even that didn't really give me any urge to try it out.

Opposite for me. I was tired of Angel on Buffy, but loved the spin-off. And after it started, Buffy was almost always second best to me.

i've been wanting to give angel a proper go but christ i was bored of him by the end of his buffy run (and cordy, and wesley... so that's half the cast)

i know it gets better - smile time got me curious enough to watch to the end of s5 - but...

In my opinion, all three of those characters got much better and more interesting on Angel than they had been on Buffy.

I like it better, honestly. Cordy, Wesley, and Gunn were such fun teammates. Could have done without the baby plot line, though.

Saaaame. I tried to watch them at the same time, and ended up dropping out of Angel when it started feeling like such a drag that I "had" to watch another episode of Angel before I "got" to watch another of Buffy. I really liked the character, but that show felt like such a drag for me.

It's such a different show. I liked most of it's run (NOT season 4), but I really liked the first season and the last season. The last season I thought was such an interesting direction for the show to go in and I really liked the different way we saw the team interact and operate.
