Re: What book, movie, show, band, franchise, fandom, et cetera changed your life for the better?

Lynda Barry’s comics and writings. Sometimes she just hits a bullseye for me on certain types of feelings that I hadn’t figured out how to express, especially when she works through anxiety about creating or about identity. It makes me feel a little more able to explain myself with a little less apology.

Also the indie game series, the Blackwell series, by Wadjet Eye - mostly because it’s very set in NY with clear references to different non-fictional places. Midway through the series I ended up living in NY briefly, and it prompted me to go visit places I probably wouldn’t have thought to go to otherwise. A couple places left me with very good memories!
